Project Engineer

Project Product Engineer - up to £40K - Milton Keynes  

Our client is a leading independent supplier of Power Protection equipment including UPS, Chargers, Battery Packs, Generators etc. who due to the winning of new works are looking to recruit a Project Product Engineer.

As a Project Product Engineer you will report to the Project Manger to assist in the smooth running of Defence Contracts.

The Engineer will need to help the Project Manager run this project, coordinating with customers, suppliers, as well as the senior management team.

Qualifications

Skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Excellent communicator at all levels to negotiate best outcomes internally and with customers.
  • Must have high levels of competence in engineering projects, engineering practices and related issues.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise and differentiate projects tasks and sales support requests within a complex and conflicting environment.
  • Experience in a similar role in this or closely related industry, having also performed at lower levels in technical project delivery role on which this role builds upon
  • Must be proficient in MS office.
  • A formal qualification in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, or experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

The work will involve:

  • Select and vet suppliers and products.
  • Gather and document product specifications, information, compliance etc.
  • Creating and updating complex documents as part of the evidence pack of information
  • Updating the complex Microsoft Project Gantt charts, coordinating design, complex documentation, milestones, reviews, meetings etc.
  • Ensure best practice technical, logistical, and commercial direction is always in place for project delivery.
  • Perceive problems well in advance and consider the broad range of commercial and technical factors in assessing the situation, identifying workable solutions, and implementing approved solutions.
  • Help manage projects through an end-to-end project life cycle; monitor overall project progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans.
  • Deliver on time, on budget, on quality Project Management at all times.

 

Additional tasks will include:

  • Liaise with purchasing to ensure the correct parts are ordered at the best price, using technical knowledge to ensure this is achieved efficiently.
  • Provide assistance with setting up test systems and prototype builds.
  • Assist with builds in the workshop when required.
  • Assist with system testing, in-house and on site.
  • Additional tasks as needed to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and within scope
